Super Eagles midfielder not worried about World Cup

Onazi who recently returned to training after an injury admitted that even though the Eagles are in a tough group, he has confident in his teammates.

According to a report by the Trabzonspor midfielder revealed that the Super Eagles stand a chance against tournament favourites Argentina.

He said, “We’re not losing any sleep, rather we are ready to do our bit by preparing well for the tournament, and leave everything in the hands of the Almighty.”

Onazi who was included in the 28 man list released by , stated that the preparatory matches will be helpful for the team.

He said, "Those friendly matches will help us a lot too. I strongly believe Nigeria will have a better World Cup campaign in Russia by the special grace of God.”

The 25-year-old also reserved special praise for the German tactician stating that he will bring out the best from the team.

Onazi said, “We have a great manager and his words of encouragement are more than enough to bring out the best.” Onazi said

Onazi has made a total of 48 appearances for the Super Eagles and contributed one goal.

After the March friendlies, the Super Eagles will still play three more warm up matches against Congo, Czech Republic and England.

Nigeria’s opening game at the World Cup will be against Croatia on Thursday, June 16.
