Paris Saint-Germain's opening Ligue 1 fixture has officially been relocated to Rennes' stadium. The champions were originally scheduled to host the match on Sunday, August 23rd, but Rennes will now play host, with the return fixture later in the season also seeing a venue swap. PSG is forced to play at "Roazhon Park" due to the poor condition of the pitch at their home ground, "Parc des Princes," as reported by the French Professional Football League (LFP). The issue is attributed to a fungal infection.

"The current pitch situation does not guarantee player safety," stated the LFP in an official announcement.

The date and kick-off time for the match remain unchanged for now, BTA further reports.

The Parisian club confirmed that a recent series of consecutive, exceptionally hot spells in the Paris region this summer significantly accelerated the deterioration of the Parc des Princes turf.

The club added that the pitch will undergo renovation before Paris Saint-Germain's home match against Monaco on September 4th.
