AC Milan has officially announced the signing of Diego Moreira, the 22-year-old Portuguese-Belgian winger, who joins Ruben Amorim's squad after two impressive seasons with French side Strasbourg.
Moreira, a product of Benfica's academy where he won the UEFA Youth League before leaving on a free transfer to Chelsea, marks the third significant reinforcement for the Italian club. He follows the arrivals of Gonçalo Ramos and Mario Gila. Local reports indicate the transfer fee was around 45 million euros.
Moreira represented Portugal at youth international levels but opted to play for the Belgian senior national team, even featuring in the World Cup. This move to Milan represents a major step forward in his career.
"I'm excited, but also a bit in shock. When you talk about AC Milan, you're talking about titles, history, and all the great players who have worn this jersey. It's a huge club, I know what they expect from me, and I feel like it's the right time to take this step," he began, before introducing himself to the fans.
"It's important for people to understand that I'm a fun guy off the pitch, but on it, I'm focused and I give everything for my teammates, the fans, and the club. That's something I'll never change because it's been a part of me since I was very young," he concluded.
