Official: Italian International from Tottenham Joins Juventus as New Goalkeeper
Juventus has officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who joins the club on loan from Tottenham. The Turin giants also revealed that the deal includes an option to buy for €8 million, plus €2 million in add-ons.
Vicario arrives with the expectation of becoming Juventus' new starting goalkeeper, following previous unsuccessful attempts to sign Zion Suzuki from Parma and Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa. The 29-year-old shot-stopper returns to his native Italy, where he has previously played for Fontanafredda, Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari, and Empoli. Tottenham acquired him from the Tuscan club three years ago for €18.5 million. During his tenure with Spurs, he made 117 appearances, conceding 170 goals and keeping 29 clean sheets. Vicario is also an Italian international, having played five matches for the "Azzurri," conceding four goals and recording three clean sheets.
