Liverpool has officially announced a new contract for Dominik Szoboszlai. The midfielder has committed his future to the club until 2031, extending his previous deal which had two seasons remaining.
Naturally, the 25-year-old Hungarian's salary will also increase, making him one of the club's highest earners.
In 147 appearances for the club so far, Szoboszlai has scored 28 goals and provided 26 assists. He was named Liverpool's Player of the Season last campaign. The midfielder is even expected to be named the team's vice-captain for the upcoming season.
“This is probably the biggest day of my life,” the delighted footballer stated. “There are a few that come before it – probably the first time I signed for Liverpool, and when my child was born, of course. But as far as my football career is concerned, I can say this is among the three most significant moments. I am very happy. I can't wait to continue again, and again, and again. I'm just happy to be here, as I've said many times.”
The number 8 added that winning the Champions League is the next major goal he aims to achieve: “There's always more to strive for. I'm never fully satisfied. No, I'm content with myself, but I believe I can be even better. I think that's why I'm here, because that's what has driven me since childhood – never to think it's enough. And now I continue to think the same way. I want to set an example. I want, as much as I can, to be an example for everyone. When I signed, I said I wanted to win everything. That hasn't changed for a moment. My goal remains the same – to win everything possible in this country, as well as, of course, the Champions League. I am ready to fight for it,” Szoboszlai concluded.
