The wife of Delta-based content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, has finally reacted to the controversy surrounding her husband’s arrest, insisting that he never raped 20-year-old Favour Agbro.

Speaking in a video shared on her husband's social media page on Wednesday, the woman, whose name was not disclosed, admitted that her husband had an affair with the late Favour but strongly denied the rape allegation.

According to her, she has been following the case closely before deciding to speak publicly.

"Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. I know my husband…. Odogwu Asaba did not rape Favour. Odogwu Asaba only had an affair with the girl."

She also defended her husband's character, saying rape was never something she believed he was capable of.

"He cannot rape, he has never. Even when he did not have fame, he did not rape anybody, is it now?"

The woman said she understood why many people had been reacting online but warned that social media should not replace the court.

Odogwu Asaba’s wife defended her husband in a video, insisting that he only had an affair with the late Favour and did not rape her.

"I am trying to follow the matter the right way; I have not been silent. I want to let you people know that no matter what happened, he is my husband and I stand with him 100%. I’m not going to turn my back on him."

She added: "How I feel, what I feel, how I see it is my personal decision. Everything is not actually the way they presented it. Before I could come out to talk, I have learnt a lot about this matter. Social media is not a courtroom. You people should bear that in mind."

While acknowledging that Favour lost her life, she maintained that her husband was not responsible for her death.

"Yes, someone has died and that is why we are taking it easy. But Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody."

She also said her husband would eventually tell his own side of the story when the legal process allows him to do so.

The woman revealed that she and Ogbonna have been married for eight years and have four children together.

What the police said

The Delta State Police Command had earlier announced the arrest of the 40-year-old content creator following a petition by Favour Agbro's family.

According to the police, Favour travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Ogbonna allegedly invited her with the promise of teaching her how to monetise her TikTok and Facebook pages through content creation.

The late Favour Agbro was reported to have died after allegedly ingesting a toxic substance following her claims about the incident.

Investigators alleged that she was later taken to a hotel where she was raped and physically assaulted.

Police further claimed that after returning home, the young woman told her parents about the alleged incident and also recorded a video detailing her experience before she later ingested a toxic substance.

She died while receiving medical treatment.

The police have since confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that Ogbonna will be charged to court.

At this stage, it is important to note that Ogbonna has not been convicted of any offence, and the rape allegation remains before the court and subject to the outcome of the legal process.
