Ighalo netted a brace in Changchun Yatai’s 3-2 loss to Shanghai Shenhua before receiving a knock in the 73rd minute.

After the injury, the 27-year-old was taken to the hospital.

Scans have shown swelling in the ankle and the striker is set to miss four weeks.

The Super Eagles striker could miss Nigeria’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against South Africa because of the injury.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria play South Africa in a 2017 AFCON qualifier on Saturday, June 10 in Uyo.

With Ighalo set to miss four weeks of action, the clash against South Africa could come too early for the striker.

The former Watford striker will also miss Changchun Yatai’s next fixtures against Henan Jianye, Yanbian Fude, Tianjin Quanjian and Guangzhou Evergrande FC.
