Flying Eagles midfielder, Obinna Nwobodo has been ruled out of the upcoming FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand as a result of the cruciate ligament injury sustained at the the 2015 African Youth Championship.
The Enugu Rangers midfielder who damaged the his knee during the final against Senegal was hoping to be fit in time for next month's FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
He was named on a provisional 35-man squad for the World Cup, but he now has to have surgery on the troubled knee which will rule him out of the competition, which begins in New Zealand on May 30.
The loss of the 18-year-old is a sad one as he played a crucial part in the Flying Eagles' African Youth Championship win, taking the man of the match award in the semifinal win over Ghana after he opened scoring with a header.
