A Return to Glory
During his initial tenure as Panathinaikos' head coach, Željko Obradović spent 13 years at the helm – a period that saw the club secure 23 trophies!
The trophy cabinets in Athens were enriched with five European titles, 11 national championship titles, and an additional seven Greek Cup trophies.
In the summer of 1999, Obradović became Panathinaikos' head coach. In his first season with the club, he won the Greek Basketball League and also brought home their first European title.
In 2007, he successfully achieved the highly coveted Triple Crown and was awarded EuroLeague Coach of the Year. He repeated this success in 2009, when Panathinaikos once again managed to win both the EuroLeague, the Greek Championship, and the Greek Cup.
Despite winning the Greek Cup in the 2011/12 season, Panathinaikos finished 4th in the EuroLeague that same season. Following this disappointment, Panathinaikos lost to Olympiacos 3–2 in the final series of the Greek League.
Afterward, in June 2012, Obradović announced his resignation as head coach. And now, he's making his return.
