Nottingham Forest has finalized the acquisition of striker Liam Delap from Chelsea for a club-record £45 million. The 23-year-old forward has penned a five-year deal at the City Ground, making Forest his third club in just three seasons. The former Ipswich player was not part of new Blues manager Xabi Alonso's plans.
"I genuinely can't wait to get started; this is a massive club with a rich history. I've spoken with the manager and I really like his approach. He can truly help me develop and take the next step, and I hope I can score goals here. I'm eager to hear the roar of the City Ground and have the fans on my side, because I know how loud and crucial they are. As a team, we can build something truly strong, and our main goal is to compete and establish ourselves as a top Premier League club," Delap told Nottingham's official website.
The former England youth international was forced to train separately at Stamford Bridge, and his number nine shirt was handed to João Pedro. Delap managed only two goals across all competitions last season. Chelsea originally signed the striker for £30 million from Ipswich.
