This move marks Delap's third club in as many years. During the 2025/2026 season, he featured in 41 matches for Chelsea, netting two goals. However, new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso indicated over the summer that Delap was not part of his future plans.
"I can't wait to get started. This is a massive club with a rich history. I've already spoken with the manager, and I like his vision. I believe he can help me develop and take the next step in my career," DPA quoted Nottingham's latest acquisition as saying.
Delap was a top transfer target for Forest and manager Oliver Glasner during the summer window. Chelsea is expected to profit from the transfer, having signed the striker from Ipswich a year ago for approximately 35 million euros. Delap could make his debut this coming weekend in the league clash against Liverpool.
