Not even pure gold or diamonds! Decked out like a bride with four million dollars: Young basketball player brought diamonds to the NBA draft, and in the end, no one picked him! /VIDEO/
This twenty-year-old basketball player was clearly convinced that a guaranteed contract and a historic night at the Barclays Center awaited him. He decided to prepare for the red carpet like no one before him. Unfortunately for him, he left adorned with expensive jewels but without the cap of any NBA team.
The brooch alone is worth three million dollars
Before the draft, Evans collaborated with the renowned Beverly Hills jeweler, Jason. For nearly a year, they secretly planned and created accessories for what they believed would be the biggest night in Isaiah's life. The young basketball player wore a diamond brooch valued at three million dollars, featuring a massive 45-carat ruby at its center, carefully chosen to match the red stripes on his navy suit. Surrounding the ruby were an additional six carats of uniquely shaped white diamonds.
To make things even wilder, Evans completed his look with a diamond wallet chain worth a cool million dollars, boasting over 170 carats of diamonds!
"Never in the history of the NBA draft has a brooch been made at this level. We wanted to bring a completely different energy with Isaiah. We sat for months and had a vision to bring the spirit of the prestigious 'Met Gala' to the draft. I wanted everything to have a royal vibe, to be unique and timeless," jeweler Jason boasted in an interview with American media just before the ceremony.
He gets another chance in the second round of the NBA Draft
Before the event, the basketball player himself was extremely excited and proudly posed for photographers, explaining how this extremely expensive ensemble perfectly reflected his character.
"I wanted to make a strong impression on everyone. I think this represents me well. Jason and I have a great relationship, and the brooch isn't actually as heavy as it looks at first glance," Evans said as he proudly walked the red carpet.
However, as the evening progressed, the diamond sparkle slowly faded, and disbelief was etched on Evans's face. While other guys in classic hundred-dollar suits jumped for joy and celebrated entering the world's strongest league, Isaiah, with four million dollars on him, sat in the audience watching general managers completely ignore him.
In the end, he became a record-holder for the most expensive styling in draft history, and also the owner of probably the most expensive outfit for players who went undrafted in the first round, despite being projected as a top 30 pick. We'll see, you never know, maybe he'll have better luck tonight when teams pick in the second round. Perhaps he should just change his styling!
