The burning question for fans and pundits alike is whether the Slovenian superstar will recover in time to lead JJ Redick's squad in their crucial playoff battles. While such a scenario seemed unlikely just days ago, the latest updates are sparking optimism.
To accelerate his recovery, Luka Dončić spent a week in Madrid, working with Samuel Castillo, a former strength and conditioning coach for Real Madrid. During his time in Spain, he received therapies and injections directly into the injured part of his leg.
Spanish sports daily "Marca" is reporting on a potential miracle, stating that Dončić's return is no longer considered impossible.
The Slovenian is traveling from Madrid on Tuesday for a re-evaluation of his injury by Lakers doctors, and there's a possibility he could play against Houston," the newspaper writes in an article titled "Dončić's Miracle? A Swift Return Is No Longer Impossible."
Decision Expected Friday
Renowned American journalist Marc Stein adds that the final decision regarding Dončić's availability will most likely be made on Friday, following further medical examinations. The situation is being monitored hourly, and hope is growing within the Lakers' camp.
In addition to Dončić, the team's other starting guard, Austin Reaves, is also injured. While he is also recovering, his chances of playing are estimated to be lower compared to the Slovenian basketball player.
The first game of the series between the Lakers and the Rockets is scheduled for Saturday night into Sunday, tipping off at 2:30 AM CET.
