Newcastle has reportedly submitted the most attractive offer to AC Milan for Christopher Nkunku, though the player himself prefers a return to RB Leipzig.
The former Chelsea forward is not part of coach Ruben Amorim's plans and has been excluded from the squad, not even being assigned a shirt number for the current season. He has been placed on the transfer list just a year after his move from Chelsea for €37 million plus bonuses. During that period, Nkunku scored 8 goals and provided 3 assists in 35 official matches.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirms that both Newcastle and RB Leipzig are in direct negotiations with AC Milan, although neither club is in advanced stages of talks.
Nkunku experienced the strongest period of his career at RB Leipzig, scoring 70 goals and assisting another 56 in 172 appearances for the German club between 2019 and 2023.
His form dipped after his €60 million transfer to Chelsea in the summer of 2023, and he never fully regained it.
Newcastle is prepared to offer €30 million for the French international. Galatasaray also made an inquiry, but Nkunku showed no interest in such a move.
