"Runaway bride" by Akinlade Damilola

Runaway bride
Runaway bride
I left my eyes at the door, patiently waiting your return...

I stand await,

By the road

That led you away.

I prayed.

I hoped,

That you'd come this May.

I slept

By the sea,

Wishing the waves bring you back.

I left my eyes

At the door,

Patiently waiting your return.

I journeyed North,

Through South;

Perhaps the Eastern wind blew you West.

I tarried

In my dreams,

Hoping to find you in Wonderland.

I flew the skies

Without wings;

Walking on the clouds.

Overland,

In the sea,

I google-searched.

The highest heights,

The deepest depth,

My spirit went.

My soul faints,

My mind weeps,

My body watches my bones break.

"Who has seen my Bride?"

I chant through Genesis,

Anxiously anticipating the Revelations.
