"My white, my pride" by Agunbiade Samuel Adeolu
In the forest of confusion,
Where my thoughts dazzled
You brought me a red rose
In the naked field of decisions
You won the crown of adversary
And when in the desert of negligence
You caught my attention
Like the significance of salt in a bowl of soup
I was enchanted with your tenderness;
Making me lie, forever in your bosom
I held my breath
To make your nostrils my breathing passage
Like mice in a cage
I was locked in your prison;
The prison where blood spills
Leaving my brain to tingle
When you pour words to caress my thoughts
I got lost but your haven of roses found me
And you became my prince
This is a plea to you
Oh prince of my heart
Do not puncture the conscience of love
Like a lion searching for its prey
Do not consent to the counsel of
The pendulum dangling between your thighs;
To break the seal of my pride
The seal that protects my sacred pit
Until you are crowned as my king
Like the view of a river at night
Awaiting a fetcher at morn,
Wait patiently to unveil my face in the day
When my pride shall become your bride
And my sacred pit shall be the home for your
pendulum
