"Brothers in arms" by Nwosu Uzoma
This is the end where it all began
The shores whence it unsank
Alone on this melancholy train
I stood forlorn, filled with disdain
Hatred consumed my soul
And anger burnt like fresh coal
For it was on this spot
We took our first shot
We were filled with life and young
And the taste for victory in our head rung
We fought for God and for country
For one, all, and for sundry.
Oh! Silent night
When bullets came from all corners like disco lights
I still hear the cries of Captain Philip
It haunts me still in my sleep.
And my friend Wallace
As his brain flew all over the place.
I wish I died that day
I wouldn’t have to die every day
As brothers in arms so we stand
No man gets left behind.
As I stood alone
Exactly were used to be our home
The same spot
We had our first shot
I smiled, this is the beginning where it all ends.
