Nice Set to Sign Experienced Midfielder

Nice is reportedly close to signing experienced midfielder Axel Witsel, according to L'Equipe. The former Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid player has been a free agent since the end of last season, following the expiration of his contract with Girona. He has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with Nice and is expected to undergo a medical examination tomorrow.

Witsel was part of the Belgium squad at the World Cup this summer. Nice is in significant need of a defensive midfielder after losing Laurent Abergel for several months due to a serious injury. He sustained the injury during a pre-season friendly against Cagliari last week.
