Montreal Canadiens stay perfect with Ottawa Senators win
A pair of Tomas Plekanec goals helped the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-1 win over the Ottawa Senators in the NHL on Sunday.
Plekanec scored twice in the first period at Canadian Tire Centre to set up the Canadiens' victory.
The win saw the Canadiens extend their perfect start to the season to three victories from as many games, while the Senators suffered their first loss.
There were NHL debuts in both nets.
Canadiens goaltender Mike Condon made 20 saves in his first appearance, while Matthew O'Connor stopped 31 shots.
They became the first starting goalies to make their NHL debuts in the same game since 1967, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
After Plekanec's first-period goals, Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored a short-handed goal for the Senators in the second.
But Torrey Mitchell scored in the third to seal the Canadiens' win.
