Olugbenga - ‘Olu’s Omniverse: We Don’ Catch Am’
Olugbenga has just premiered a new mixtape titled ‘Olu’s Omniverse: We Don’ Catch Am’. The production is a combination of sounds from the motherland. It consists of tracks from Naija’s Temi Dollface and Orezi as well as songs from South Africa’s Okmalumkoolkat and DJ Spoko, Kenyan hip hop groups The Kansoul and P-Unit.
The Nigerian electronic music producer shared the origin of his project which started almost 10 years ago. He posted on Soundcloud: “Olu's Omniverse began life as a showreel for an imaginary radio show, one that was based around underground music from all over the world“.
“It came from my frustration with the term 'world music' and all the amazing, vibrant music that was often left out of that categorisation because it didn't sound 'indigenous' enough”, he added.
Olugbenga who is currently based in London is also a DJ and a songwriter.
