International kit makers Nike unveiled new kits for the Portuguese national team with Ronaldo and star players such as Andre Gomes, Joao Mario and Andre Silva.

Portugal go into the World Cup as the reigning European champions after their triumph at Euro 2016, and Nike revealed the inspiration behind the design of their new jerseys.

Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director Pete Hoppins said, “The collection is inspired by the success of two years ago,”

Hoppins also explained that the new jerseys are a tribute to Ronaldo and past icons of the Portuguese national team.

He said, “That comes through in the home kit with this concept of modern royalty. From Luis Figo to Cristiano, Portugal have a number of iconic characters who have led and united the squad.”

“Ronaldo is a Portuguese hero, We wanted to tell the story of the modern king of football leading this new team.” Hoppins concluded

Portugal warm-up jerseys

Portugal’s warm up jerseys will be worn by the players before the match and the inspiration for the design was derived from Portugal’s cross on the national team’s flag.

According to Nike the warm up jerseys “send a message that this nation is hungry for more success.”

Portugal home jerseys

According to kit makers Nike, Portugal’s home jerseys are inspired by their triumph at Euro 2016.

Nike stated that “With the home kit, we celebrated where we are with Portugal.”

Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates will wear a deep red shirt which has a splash of gold which commemorates their triumph as European champions.

Portugal away jerseys

The away kit is a total reversal from the home jerseys, as it is an all white attire with the colours green and red red used in certain areas to give an attractive outfit.

According to Nike “the away is all about what's next,” as it features a green radiating patch on the front.

Nike also stated that, “The away kit nods to this relentless hunt for fresh talent through symbols from their naval history.”

Portugal Tracksuit's

Kit makers Nike revealed two track-suits for the European champions, the first a red jacket with shades on a darker red from the shoulders to the sleeves, while the second is a light green attires with shades of black on the edges of the shoulders.

Kit makers Nike stated that the “The Portugal home kit will be available March 23 on Nike.com, the away kit will be available April 26.”

The new jerseys for Portugal show that Nike are casting a wider net as to the purchase of the jerseys, like the recently unveiled French jerseys and England's jerseys which caused massive reactions on social media.

Portugal's new jerseys should be worn by the players for their upcoming friendly matches against Egypt on Friday, March 23 and against the Netherlands on Tuesday, March 27.
