The Boston Celtics fell 97-111 to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night, squandering home-court advantage in the first round of the NBA playoffs — the series is now tied 1-1.
Portuguese center Neemias Queta started and, in 27.45 minutes of action, contributed eight points — converting three of four field goals and both of his free throws — six rebounds (five defensive), one turnover, and three fouls.
With the Portuguese international on the court, the Celtics had a negative differential of just four points.
Even Jaylen Brown, with 36 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, and Jayson Tatum, who posted 19 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists, couldn't secure the win for the hosts.
For the 76ers, who bounced back emphatically from their heavy Game 1 defeat (91-123) and remain without center Joel Embiid, rookie VJ Edgecombe shone with 30 points and 10 rebounds, alongside Tyrese Maxey, who contributed 29 points and nine assists. Paul George (19 points), Kelly Oubre Jr. (12), and reserve Andre Drummond (10) were also crucial for the Philadelphia squad, who led 62-54 at halftime and maintained their advantage throughout the second half.
The best-of-seven series now shifts to Philadelphia, where Games 3 and 4 will be played on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
