The squad was received at the Royal Palace by King Harald and Crown Prince Haakon. During his conversation with head coach Ståle Solbakken, the 89-year-old monarch was visibly moved to tears.
Following the royal reception, the footballers boarded an open-top bus, soaking in the cheers and applause from the massive crowd that had gathered to welcome them.
Norway reached the quarterfinals of the global tournament, where they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by England. Prior to that, the team had eliminated Brazil.
