Almost a year after the Euro 2020 final there was still nothing to separate England and Italy after 90 minutes.

England continues to wait for their first win in the UEFA Nations League after three matches following a barren draw with Italy at the Molineux on Saturday.

After England fans lost it when these two last met at the final of the European championships, unleashing mayhem at Wembley, the Three Lions were forced to play in an empty stadium in the first meeting between the two countries since that unfortunate incident.

However, despite both sides creating enough, like the Euro final, there was nothing to differentiate both sides after the regular 90 minutes.

Both nations were guilty of missing some good chances to score at least a goal with Raheem Sterling and Davide Frattessi the most notable ones.

Here are some of the key moments from the game.

- Frattessi opens the floodgate of misses

On the occasion of his second international appearance for Italy, Frattessi had the first chance to open the scoring against England but missed the sitter.

Davide Frattessi came close to putting Italy ahead after just 2 minutes.

It was a big chance for the Azzurri to take an early lead but he lacked the needed killer instinct and composure.

- Mason Mount rattles the Italian post

Seven minutes after Frattessi's miss, England almost scored one of their own but of course, it was the same story.

Chelsea star, Mason Mount, raced into the box where a loose ball fell to him but watched in agony as his shot rattled the post to safety.

- Raheem Sterling joins in on the profligate act

Of course, what is a football match without a trademark Raheem Sterling miss? It was easier for Sterling to miss than score. You know what he chose?

Seven minutes into the second half, a peach of a cross from Chelsea right-back, Reece James finds Sterling free at the near post.

But somehow, the Manchester City star made a mess of what would have been an easy tap in.

Need I add that Sterling was presented another chance three minutes later by his club teammate, Jack Grealish, and, let me not finish it. Let's move to the next moment.

- Giovanni Di Lorenzo comes close to the breakthrough

Italy's best chance of the second half fell to the right-back, who almost became the hero.

However, Arsenal goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale was alert and up to the task to make a stunning save to keep the scoreline still 0-0.

That was it really as the Three Lions failed to avenge that painful defeat at Wembley with Italy extending their unbeaten run against them to six matches.

Italy moved top of Group 3 on five points, while England won't like the fact they are bottom on the log on just two points after two draws and a defeat in three matches.

Man of the match: Reece James
