Mourinho: There's no room for Yamal at Real Madrid right now

Returning to the Bernabéu, José Mourinho spoke about the 'Negreira case' and refereeing bias in favor of Barcelona during his first spell as Real Madrid manager, in an interview with the program “El Chiringuito”. The Madrid coach resorted to irony when asked about payments to the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees. Here's what he had to say on a range of topics:

On Refereeing
The 'Negreira case' is in court; let's see what justice decides. I felt something strange, I didn't know the name, I didn't know who Negreira was. But it was strange. A few years later, we now know it wasn't strange at all. The only thing I find strange is the justice system. In Italy, they dealt with 'Calciopoli'.

Did he ask for Diomande?
I didn't ask for anyone. I arrive without requesting any specific player, I carefully analyze the squad, and I'm clear about what I'd like to see happen. But because of what transpired last season, I wanted to understand many things and acted as if I knew nothing. A fast, aggressive winger who can play on both flanks isn't easy to find. I don't want to analyze whether he costs 120, 80, or 20 [million]. I analyze what he can bring to my team, and I said: 'Yes, I want him.' How much he costs is not my concern.

Bernardo Silva is very much his type of player
He is Pep's player, Pep Guardiola's. He gives his all. I hope we have few problems and a lot of stability, and for me, Bernardo is currently a central midfielder. But he can play as a No. 10, on the right wing, he can play anywhere.

Modric and Kroos's successor
There's only one Luka and one Toni. I really like Arda Güler. I think the same thing could happen with him as with Luka and Bernardo – you start as a No. 10, as an attacking player, and then you start playing deeper. Arda will move in that direction, and with his understanding of the game, he can make that transition.

Would you want Lamine Yamal?
No, no. He's a great player, no doubt. A young footballer with incredible potential for development. It's not normal for someone his age – 20 or 19 – to be a European champion, a world champion… But we have a top squad. At this moment, I wouldn't make room for anyone. These are my players now, and mine are the best.
