Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho expressed satisfaction following his team's narrow 1-0 victory over newly promoted Deportivo La Coruña in a friendly match. The Portuguese tactician admitted that the capital club faced challenges against the newcomers, who are returning to La Liga after an eight-season absence.
"It was a tough match against a team making their return to La Liga. Our opponents forced us to play seriously. I liked that in such a difficult game, with so many changes not only in the lineup but also in tactics and roles, the team played for the result. We will have many more similar matches in La Liga, especially away from home, where it will be tough to finish successfully in the 90th minute. If you manage to do that, then you win, even if it's 1-0, as it was this time. The team is improving, and that's a positive thing. The squad is progressing in all areas, but the difficulty of the matches is increasing. Of course, we are planning for this," Mourinho, who took over the team this summer, told the media.
Brahim Díaz scored just before the end of the first half to secure the minimal victory for the capital side against La Coruña.
