The Trackhouse Aprilia team announced that the Japanese rider injured his left hand while training in his home country between the British and Aragon races. Upon his return to Europe, it was determined that a fracture near his left thumb would require surgery.

Consequently, Ogura will be unable to participate in the 13th round of the MotoGP season. Trackhouse has called upon Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori to replace him. This will be Savadori's second appearance of the season, having previously competed as a wildcard entry in the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.
