Moneke Publicly Takes Responsibility for EuroLeague Elimination: "Don't Give Up on Us Yet"
)
Crvena zvezda suffered a decisive 80-72 loss to Barcelona.
The club from Mali Kalemegdan failed to achieve its goals, and this result disappointed Red Star fans.
A few days later, Chima Moneke addressed the situation via Instagram.
Unfortunately, I and we did not achieve our EuroLeague goals for this season. I will take responsibility for that. I still believe we are building something special, don't give up on us yet. The best is yet to come… whatever that may be. Chima Moneke
Moneke had previously shown his ability to carry the team in some matchups, even securing victories for Zvezda, but he faded in the season's final stretch and in crucial games.
In Catalonia, he finished the game with just five points in 29 minutes on the court – but without a single field goal! He shot 0-for-4. On average, he recorded 14.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in the EuroLeague, with a performance index rating of 18.8.
Zvezda now turns its attention to the continuation of the ABA League competition.
