Miško's Player Drafted 14th in NBA Draft, Dirk Nowitzki Immediately Reaches Out /VIDEO/
At the NBA Draft held on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning Serbian time, agent Miško Ražnatović saw one of his players selected. Hannes Steinbach, despite receiving offers of up to $10 million (or more) to remain in college, opted to enter the NBA Draft and was chosen as the 14th overall pick.
The Charlotte Hornets selected him, and following the successful outcome, Ražnatović himself took to Twitter to celebrate.
Dirk Reaches Out
Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki sent Steinbach a video message after Charlotte picked the Washington big man 14th overall on Tuesday night, offering support to his fellow German countryman entering the league.
Nowitzki's own draft moment happened 28 years ago, and Steinbach now hopes to achieve at least a fraction of the success this Hall of Famer had in the NBA.
Here's what Nowitzki had to say to Steinbach:
"Another kid from Würzburg in the league! I've known you since birth, I've followed your journey, and I'm incredibly proud of you and how you've handled all of this," Nowitzki stated.
Nowitzki played five seasons in Germany with Steinbach's father, Burkhart Steinbach, and the two have remained in contact over the years. The younger Steinbach was born when Nowitzki had already been in the NBA for eight years.
"I'm so glad you didn't inherit your father's athleticism," Nowitzki quipped playfully.
