The 24-year-old DR Congo international's contract is set for two years, worth $12.4 million. The Timberwolves' management plans for Kuminga to fill the power forward spot in the starting lineup, joining Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert.

However, to finalize the transfer, the Timberwolves will need to consider parting ways with Josh Green, either by trading him to another team in the league or releasing him before Saturday's deadline.

Jonathan Kuminga chose Minnesota over other suitors such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and Portland Trail Blazers. Team President Tim Connelly played a crucial role in his decision, traveling to Miami earlier this month for a four-hour meeting with the player. According to ESPN, Kuminga also had productive discussions with head coach Chris Finch.

In his five NBA seasons to date, Jonathan Kuminga has averaged 12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists across 294 regular-season games (98 starts) with the Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks.
