The Minnesota Timberwolves have completed a trade with the Charlotte Hornets to acquire point guard LaMelo Ball.
Joining Ball in Minneapolis is forward Josh Green. In return, Charlotte receives center Naz Reid, a first-round draft pick in 2033, the right to swap first-round picks in 2028, 2029, and 2030, along with three second-round draft picks in 2029, 2032, and 2033.
With the addition of Ball, Minnesota unites two of the top talents from the 2020 NBA Draft: Anthony Edwards, who was selected first overall by the Timberwolves, and Ball, who was the third overall pick by Charlotte.
The 24-year-old LaMelo Ball, whose professional career began with Prienai in Lithuania, was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021. He also earned an All-Star selection in 2022.
Throughout his NBA career, the guard has averaged 20.8 points, 7.3 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game across 303 appearances.
