The NBA trade frenzy hasn't fully kicked off yet, as it typically follows the draft, but we've already seen the first major exchange of the offseason.

According to well-informed ESPN insider Shams Charania, the Minnesota Timberwolves have traded Julius Randle.

The American forward was sent to Brooklyn in a three-team trade, along with the 28th pick. Nic Claxton will head to Chicago to join the Bulls, while Minnesota received only the 33rd pick in the draft.

This is a rather intriguing move by the Timberwolves, considering they've shed Randle's substantial contract, which still had two years remaining. On the other hand, the Bulls gain a significant boost in their frontcourt, and Brooklyn acquires a three-time All-Star.

It's worth remembering that Minnesota eliminated Nikola Jokic's Denver Nuggets in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs, winning the series 4-1.
