Bachelorette Hannah Brown hails from Alabama.
She was born in Tuscaloosa, and she went on to study communications at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). Before being cast as a contestant on The Bachelor , she was working as an interior designer in nearby Northport, Alabama.
Hannah's a beauty pageant winner.
Hannah started competing in pageants at 15, and she was crowned Miss Alabama USA 2018 in November 2017. She later went on to compete for Miss USA, and as fate would have it, she ended up rooming with Caelynn Miller-Keyes, who also ended up competing with Hannah on Colton Underwood's season of The Bachelor.

If those sky high eyebrows dont scream confident and empowered, idk what will (yall, I know the face is slightly terrifying..but let me live in this moment-girl was workin it) . I have been blessed to be surrounded by some of the most amazing women who are not only gorgeous, but extremely healthy and fit, and incredibly sharp leaders of our country. Its okay to be all those things. You can still be a world changer, and turn heads in an evening gown or swimsuit. I appreciate my femininity and intellect and how both have made me the leader I am. #missusa #girlwerk #browgametoohigh #dontstopthatshine #missalusa #alabamahannah #18ateam #wedoboth A post shared by Hannah Brown (@alabamahannah) on Jun 6, 2018 at 10:05pm PDT
Pageantry is what led Hannah to become an advocate for mental health.
As People reports, Hannah first tried out for Miss Alabama, she missed the top 15 four years in a row. She realized that it was taking a toll on her, and she decided to take a break from the pageant scene as she dealt with anxiety and depression.
"It was kind of discouraging. People always have an opinion about what you do, what you say, how you walk, how you dress. I took the wrong outlook on what pageantry should be-I thought my self-worth was through recognition," Hannah told Alabama NewsCenter .
According to Us Weekly , after coming back to pageantry and being crowned Miss Alabama, she vowed to bring awareness to mental health issues.
Hannah has plenty of nicknames.
Hannah is also known as "Alabama Hannah" and "Hannah Beast." Alabama Hannah is an obvious callback to her home state, while Hannah Beast is what the 24-year-old dubbed herself during a hiking group date on The Bachelor.

On Colton Underwood 's season of The Bachelor, Hannah was sent home after meeting his family.
Colton took Hannah to Denver to meet his family...and then broke up with her the same day. Not cool, dude. And even though Hannah had admitted to falling in love with him, she took her elimination extremely well, saying, "I will not allow myself to not feel chosen every single day. And Ill wait 'til whenever that is."
Hannah was picked to be the Bachelorette because she's a self-proclaimed "hot mess."
Hannah won the title role of Bachelorette over other contenders like Tayshia and Caelynn because her natural charm and nervousnesses is endearing. ABC's Reality Chief Rob Mills told The Hollywood Reporter that of all the potential Bachelorettes that the network met with, Hannah just had "something" about her. "Part of it was that she thought she was the dark horse, so she came in and had nothing to lose, saying, 'I dont know, Im just going to be myself.' There was just something different that we hadnt seen in a Bachelorette before. Very kind of charming and goofy."
"When she had her intro video for The Bachelor and she said, 'Im Hannah-all aboard the hot mess express!', you think thats probably just shtick. And then we figured out, no thats actually true. I think that came through on the live show, too, when she met the first five guys."
