1.57M Mazda vehicles are being recalled, globally.

According to the company's spokeswoman, this worldwide recall is over potentially lethal airbag inflators.

"The recall covers 491,000 units in Japan and many were also being recalled in and the ,’’ she said.

These airbags, made by Takata, have the tendency to rupture explosively in a collision, spraying metal fragments at passengers as well as drivers.

13 deaths and loads of injuries have been linked to this lethal defect.

This recall affects the Delica, RX-8 and Demio subcompact, also known as the Mazda 2.
