Check out works from late poet's extensive art collection

Maya Angelou may be long gone, but her works and legacy remain with us, and this includes her extensive art collection.

The iconic American author, poet, dancer, actress and artist was an avid art collector who owned powerful works by figures like Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold and Romare Bearden.

Following her death in 2014, Swann Auction Galleries is auctioning off 44 works from her collection which will be open to the public from September.
