After crashing out on the opening lap of his home Dutch Grand Prix last Sunday, Max Verstappen now finds himself in a 12-race Formula 1 drought without a victory.

For the four-time world champion, who has become accustomed to winning so frequently in recent years, this marks his longest winless streak in a decade. Between 2016 and 2017, the Dutchman endured a 30-race stretch without a win, from his maiden triumph in Spain in 2016 to his second success in Malaysia a year later. This remains the longest dry spell of his career, which also includes a record-breaking 10 consecutive victories in 2023.

Of course, Verstappen has experienced other significant winless periods in recent years, specifically 10 and 8 races in 2024 and 2025, respectively. However, his last streak of more than 10 races without a victory before the current one dates back to the 2020 season, when the Red Bull driver went 11 consecutive starts without a win between his successes at the second Silverstone race and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the year.

Unfortunately for Verstappen and his legions of fans, given Red Bull's performance since the start of the season, there's no immediate end in sight for his current dry spell. However, in motorsport, nothing is ever guaranteed.
