It seems the ban placements on Argentina’s greatest footballer of all-time, Diego Maradona, has become a part of him. Maradona was banned from the stadium on the day Argentina played Bosnia on June 15 by FIFA, the former World Player of the year may yet be banned again but for the game between Nigeria and Argentina.
Diego Armando Maradona was forced to see Lionel Messi score his first World Cup goal from the hotel room: “I was not allowed to go in to the game so I had to return to the hotel to see the second half.
“I did everything I could but they would not let us in. Someone just said no, it could not happen, so I had to watch it on TV,” an infuriated Maradona told TyC Sports.
Maradona fears that he might yet again be banned from the Nigerian game:
“Hopefully we will get this resolved because I want to go and see Argentina in several more games.
“It is one thing to not be able to go to a game, and another to not be allowed to go.
“When there is good will, you’re allowed in but when there is ill will, it’s better to forget it and head back to the hotel, which is what we did.”
The ban placed on Maradona may not be far from the allegations he laid on FIFA's Ethics and conduct in football matters through a broadcast he co-anchors in Brazil.
He accused FIFA of being “ugly'' and the he says, the ''people need to know it”
“Fifa is a multinational that is eating the ball,” he said. “Countries can’t do anything against them. If FIFA decides where soft drinks must be sold, that’s where they have to be sold.”
FIFA however denies knowledge of the denial incident of the Argentine hero: “We are not aware that he was not allowed in to the Maracanã. Perhaps he just tried the wrong door.”
