Manchester United vs. Brighton: Numerous Changes for Both Sides

Manchester United is set to host Brighton in a Carabao Cup third-round clash. Fate, it seems, has a sense of humor, pitting these two teams against each other once again in their first cup fixture of the season. This mirrors their FA Cup third-round encounter in January, where the Seagulls visited Old Trafford and emerged victorious, progressing in the competition. Today, the home side will be looking for revenge, or perhaps the visitors will once again demonstrate why they've been one of the most consistent teams in England over the past few seasons.

The Red Devils have had a shaky start to their league campaign, recording two losses, one draw, and just one win in four matches. The weekend's derby defeat against City was particularly painful. Brighton, on the other hand, has started the season strongly, sitting sixth in the Premier League table with only one loss and two wins. However, today's match is a direct knockout tie, with both teams vying for progression.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has made significant changes following the weekend's loss. Only three players retain their starting spots from the City clash: Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford, and Youri Tielemans. New signing Karl Darlow makes his official debut in goal, while the squad also features Mason Mount, Leny Yoro, promising youngster Shea Lacey, and another new acquisition, Andrey Santos. Captain Bruno Fernandes also starts on the bench.

Fabian Hürzeler has made six changes to his Brighton lineup compared to the team that overcame Coventry. Youngster Malik Yalcouye, Haralampos Kostoulas, Luka Vuskovic, Olivier Boschali, and veteran Pascal Gross all retain their places. As is tradition, Jason Steele starts in goal, having been the Seagulls' cup goalkeeper in recent years. Koshinya, Jaouen Hadjam, Pascal Struijk, and Chema Andres are all making their first starts of the season.
