Manchester United Players Reportedly Barred from Speaking to Media After Leeds Draw

Manchester United barred their players from speaking to the media following their 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road, according to the Mirror. While there was reportedly no official directive from the press office instructing players to avoid the written press, United players rarely stop in the mixed zone without club supervision. Following the clash in Yorkshire, the only Red Devils player to speak to broadcast media was Harry Maguire, who gave an interview exclusively to the club's in-house channel.

The clampdown comes in the wake of the controversy involving Lisandro Martinez, who publicly criticized the club's hierarchy and technical director Jason Wilcox following their 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid last week. After the Leeds fixture, Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes informed reporters that they were not permitted to speak. The Brazilian forward was approached by a compatriot in the mixed zone, but a member of United's media team intervened to halt the conversation. Club captain Fernandes also turned down interview requests, telling waiting reporters: "I can't speak, I'm not allowed to."
