Roma has reportedly rejected Manchester United's initial bid of £35 million (approximately €40 million) for midfielder Manu Koné, according to "Corriere dello Sport." The French international, currently with the national squad at the World Cup, is valued at a minimum of €60 million by the Giallorossi hierarchy. Koné has featured in four matches at the 2026 World Cup so far, albeit coming off the bench, as he faces stiff competition from Adrien Rabiot and Aurélien Tchouaméni. He had a solid season with Roma, contributing two goals and three assists in 37 appearances.

The midfielder is currently considered a priority target for the Old Trafford club, who are still seeking a robust defensive midfielder to replace the departed Casemiro. Manchester United has already bolstered their midfield with the acquisition of Andrey Santos from Chelsea, and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa is expected to undergo a medical today.
