Major Concerns Eased for Tuchel Ahead of Argentina Semi-Final

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is set to be fit for England's World Cup semi-final clash against Argentina. One of Thomas Tuchel's key players had been unwell before the quarter-final against Norway, with the coach revealing after the match that Rice had spent most of the previous three days in bed. Rice was substituted at halftime in the quarter-final, leading to concerns in England that he wasn't fully recovered. However, yesterday Rice trained normally and assured the 'Three Lions' medical staff that he would be completely ready for tomorrow's match.

The midfielder has also been dealing with hamstring and back issues, admitting he's been playing with neurological pain since December.

Another significant piece of news is that England's standout player at the 2026 World Cup, Jude Bellingham, will also start. There was a moment in the Norway game where the Real Madrid star clutched his shoulder. In post-match interviews, he was also seen holding his left shoulder, which he had surgery on last summer, on several occasions. This had given hope to the Argentine media that Bellingham might not be fit to start. However, there is no such danger.

Nico O'Reilly and Ezri Konsa, who experienced some issues during the match against Norway, will also be available.

Currently, Tuchel's only remaining selection dilemma for the starting lineup appears to be at right-back, choosing between Reece James, Djed Spence, or Ezri Konsa. Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka is expected to start on the right wing in attack, replacing Noni Madueke, who was unconvincing against Norway.
