The 23-year-old Moroccan international, who joined the Eagles in 2024, has endured an incredibly difficult period plagued by injuries. Since arriving at Selhurst Park, he has spent a total of 430 days out of action due to various physical ailments. The Barcelona academy product initially sustained a knee injury, followed shortly by a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Reports from England indicate that Riad's current injury is once again one of the most severe in football. This development could force the Palace management to re-evaluate their transfer plans before the window closes on Tuesday.

Since his arrival in South London in the summer of 2024, the Moroccan has made just 16 appearances for the club. However, during the periods he was fit, he managed to feature in four matches for the Moroccan national team during the World Cup earlier this summer.

To bolster their defense, Crystal Palace have already brought in center-back Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea. Another option for the position is Japanese international Takehiro Tomiyasu, who joined the squad as a free agent.
