Major Blow for Chelsea's Attack: Key Forward Sidelined Again as Xabi Alonso Braces for Weeks Without Star
Losing their star forward could prove to be a significant blow for Chelsea. In the two Premier League fixtures the Brazilian international has missed this season, the Blues noticeably lacked their usual attacking sharpness. Xabi Alonso's side suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham on Saturday and fell 3-0 to Brentford last month. Pedro sustained the injury in training last week, facing his second spell on the sidelines this campaign.
He is also ruled out of Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash away at Liverpool and will likely miss Brazil's upcoming November friendlies against Japan and Singapore.
"He has a thigh injury and will be out for several weeks. We will see how long it takes—we don't want to put a timeframe on it just yet. However, he won't be available for the upcoming matches. He is a key player and we will miss him. That said, we must deal with the injury, remain competitive, and aim to win with the squad we have available. That is the situation," Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso said, as reported by the AP.
