At least 10 people are said to have died in a suicide bombing which hit a market in Maiduguri today, July 31, 2015.
A local vigilante member, Kabiru Yaro told AP that he carried away at least 10 corpses.
However, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) only confirmed six deaths.
“Scene of #Bomb blast at customs area of #Maiduguri Borno state.6 people lost their lives &11 others injured.31.7.2015,” NEMA said via Twitter.
NEMA’s northeast zonal coordinator, Mohammed Kanar also said that 11 people had been injured in the incident.
"11 persons were injured, four were taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), the seven others were taken to the State Specialists Hospital to be treated,” Kanar said.
The blast is believed to be the work of terrorist sect, Boko Haram which has launched similar attacks in the area.
