The 26-year-old defender was part of Canada's squad at last summer's World Cup, where the country was a co-host. He started in the Round of 16 match against Morocco, which Canada lost 3-0, leading to their elimination. Bombito later admitted in an interview that he played that game without being fully fit.

He underwent his first similar operation in Monaco on October 5, 2025. Upon his return to Nice, he continued to experience pain with every run. A subsequent scan revealed the need for further surgical intervention. Bombito will spend the first six weeks of his recovery in Canada. His return to action is not anticipated before early 2027.
