Liverpool Reportedly Eyeing Surprise Choice to Replace Salah

Liverpool has reportedly initiated talks with Brighton over winger Yankuba Minteh, according to The Athletic. Anfield is still searching for a top-tier replacement for Mohamed Salah, who departed this summer, and Minteh appears to be the current frontrunner. The 22-year-old Gambian enjoyed a solid campaign last season, tallying 3 goals and 4 assists in 36 appearances. The Athletic further reports that both clubs are nearing an agreement, and the Reds' next offer is likely to meet the Seagulls' demands. Minteh is valued at approximately 45 million euros.

Liverpool will kick off the season under new manager Andoni Iraola, who replaces Arne Slot. However, Anfield has been notably quiet in the transfer market so far, with only Osasuna winger Victor Muñoz and Jérémy Jacquet joining the ranks, though the deal for the Frenchman was finalized months ago. This cautious approach from the club's hierarchy is particularly surprising given that other key figures besides Salah have also left, including Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konaté, who moved to Tottenham and Real Madrid, respectively.
