Lens Signs Academy Product to Bolster Champions League Ambitions

Belgian footballer Thorgan Hazard returns to French club RC Lens after several years. The former international has signed a contract with the Ligue 1 participant until 2028, the club announced on Monday.

The younger brother of former Belgian international Eden Hazard, Thorgan Hazard, is a product of the Lens academy, from which he departed for Chelsea in 2012. He subsequently played for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and most recently spent three seasons at Anderlecht.

Lens qualified for the Champions League last season after battling Paris Saint-Germain for the French league title. “His experience at the highest level will be a huge asset for the team as we return to the Champions League,” sporting director Jean-Louis Leca told AFP.

“During our discussions, I sensed how deeply connected he is to Lens and how strong his desire is to wear the Lens jersey in the Champions League.”
