Formula 1 World Champion Lando Norris and McLaren have agreed to a long-term contract extension that will keep the Briton with the team until at least the end of 2030.

On Saturday morning, McLaren announced it had secured Norris for an additional four years, with the contract including options for a multi-year extension for the 26-year-old driver. Norris personally shared the news with staff at the Woking factory during the team's annual open day for family and friends.

"McLaren is my home, and I'm very pleased to sign a new contract that will keep me with the team until at least 2030," said the world champion. "When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to bring McLaren back to the front and to win championships."
"We've achieved that goal, but we want more. We want to keep winning, and as a team, we know we are capable of it. I can't wait to get back in the car for Monza, and I'm very excited about what the future holds, both for the rest of this season and for the years to come."

Norris's previous contract ran until the end of 2027, effectively extending the Briton's stay in Woking by at least another four years. His teammate, Oscar Piastri, is under contract until the end of 2028 after extending his own deal early last year.

Salaries are rarely disclosed in Formula 1, but it is expected that Norris will receive a significant pay rise following his world title and his overall progress as a driver, which continued through a strong first half of 2026. Norris has capitalised on McLaren's car upgrades to win the last two Grands Prix in Hungary and the Netherlands.

In addition to the new contract, Norris was gifted his 2025 championship-winning car, the MCL39.

Team Principal Andrea Stella stated he was "delighted" to continue working with Norris for the foreseeable future.

"He is an exceptional driver who combines incredible natural speed with maturity, consistency, and a strong commitment to McLaren, but above all, he is a special person valued by everyone on the team," said Stella.
"Since joining McLaren as part of our junior programme, he has grown with us and played a central role in returning the team to the front of Formula 1. This extension gives us important continuity and strengthens our confidence in the direction we are heading together. With him and Oscar, we know we can count on not only one of the strongest driver pairings but also one of the most cohesive and close-knit teams in Formula 1."

Norris made his Formula 1 debut with McLaren in 2019 and has raced exclusively for the British team ever since, securing 13 wins, 18 pole positions, and 48 podiums.

Team CEO Zak Brown, who played a key role in Norris's development, said: "His journey with the team is a fantastic example of our commitment to identifying, developing, and nurturing world-class talent, and his achievements speak for themselves."
"Together with Andrea, Oscar, and the entire team, Lando has helped lead McLaren into a new era of papaya success, helping us move from the back of the grid to two consecutive Constructors' titles in 2024 and 2025, and our first Drivers' title in 17 years. We are extremely excited about what lies ahead and remain fully focused on continuing the fight for wins and championships."
