Lando Norris officially dethroned as Formula 1 world champion

Although Andrea Kimi Antonelli could not mathematically seal the Formula 1 World Championship with his victory at the United States Grand Prix, he officially dethroned 2025 world champion Lando Norris.

Regardless of what happens over the remaining five rounds of the season, the Briton cannot defend his crown. He currently trails Antonelli by 154 points, with a maximum of only 125 points available before the end of the campaign, officially ending Norris's title hopes.

Norris becomes the first driver since Jenson Button in 2010 to fail to defend his maiden Formula 1 world title, excluding Nico Rosberg, who retired from the sport just days after claiming the 2016 championship.
