"My comment was ill-advised, and I now understand that I have hurt many people, not only in China but also across the global Chinese community. I apologise to anyone who was upset by my words. That was never my intention. I have immense respect for the people of China and its history, which is why I am issuing this apology," Mbappé stated regarding the controversy.
